OUR STORY
McDonald Dental helps you care for your teeth. We are a dental practice serving Gympie and the surrounding areas, including Maryborough, Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach.
Our office provides a wide range of dental services, including preventative care, restorative care, implants, dentures, emergency dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, root canals and children’s dental services.
We accept patients of all ages. For some procedures on adults or children, we offer sedation therapy from a trusted local GP.
BEHIND BUSINESS
Dr. Francois McDonald is the practicing dentist at McDonald Dental. After graduating in 2006, Dr. McDonald worked in dental practices around the area before deciding to open a private practice in 2015. At this time, he purchased an existing practice which had been established in 2012, taking over the business and changing the name to McDonald Dental.
Dr. McDonald values knowing each patient personally and helping to care for people’s dental health over the long-term, from preventative care to restorative care and implants. He invests time in each patient to listen and provide appropriate care for anyone who walks through the doors.

We recognise many people feel uncomfortable with dental visits. Our team works hard to build a relationship with our patients, practising gentle care during each visit. Our goal is to make a trip to our office as stress-free as possible, removing to roadblocks between you and exceptional dental care.

MEET THE TEAM
DR FRANCOIS MCDONALD | PRINCIPAL/OWNER DENTIST
BChD (Pret), Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry (gIDE, Loma Linda University)
Dr Francois graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2006. In 2010 he and his wife immigrated to Australia, where he worked for the South Australian Dental Services and private practice, before moving to Queensland.
In 2015 Dr McDonald purchased an existing practice based in Mary Street Gympie and in 2018 the practice was moved to the medical precinct in Channon street, due to exceptional growth in the practice.
Dr McDonald believes in building good relationships with his patients and only want the best outcome for each individual.
Dr Francois has 16 years of experience in the dental field, he provides all scope of general dentistry, but has special interest in oral surgery, bone augmentation and Implants.
Dr Francois enjoys playing golf and watching sports as well as spending time with his small family.
DR HARRY KIM | ASSOCIATE DENTIST
BDSc (Hons) QLD, MClinDent (Pros), FRACDS
Dr Kim is a gentle, experienced dentist from Brisbane. He enjoys building trust with patients and ensuring that his patients are given all suitable treatment options, he works to ensure his patients have a pleasant experience.
Dr Harry Kim graduated from the University of Queensland with academic honours, and went on to complete a Masters in Clinical Dentistry in restorative dentistry (Prosthodontics), and was elected a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
New In his time off, Dr Harry enjoys gardening and playing a game of tennis.
HOPE PRESSLER | ORAL HEALTH THERAPIST
Bachelor of Oral Health (Hygiene and Therapy) | Charles Sturt University
Hope is McDonald Dentals Oral Health Therapist, as and Oral Health Therapist Hopes role is focused on the preventive care of a patient’s oral health, she does the check up and cleans for all ages, as well as children’s dentistry! She takes pride in her work having a special interest in treating periodontal disease.
Previously before becoming an Oral Health Therapist Hope was a dental assistant and receptionist in rural NSW obtaining both her certificate 3 and 4 in dental assisting, after that she finished her Bachelor of Oral Health (Therapy and Hygiene) at Charles Sturt University.
Hope loves music, so don’t be surprised if she serenades you during your appointment, she also enjoys cooking and spending the day in the sun.
JAZMYNE MCLENNAN | OFFICE COORDINATOR | DENTAL ASSISTANT

Cert 3 in Business
Jazmyne has nearly 2 years of dental experience completing her Cert 3 in dental assisting in June 2022. She loves being thorough and organised and has found her new role as Front Office Coordinator allowing her to apply this skill in her every day working week.
Jazmyne enjoys helping patients in any way she can, making sure they are relaxed and comfortable throughout their appointment, ensuring they leave feeling confident and happy.
Over the past year Jazmyne has discovered a passion for Dental having a future goal to complete her Cert 4 and then study to be and Oral Health Therapist.
When Jaz isn’t working, she enjoys being outside at the beach with her sausage dog Evie and spending time with her family and friends.
CARIKE MCDONALD | RECEPTIONIST
Diploma in Health & Skincare - Currently studying accounting /business
Carike is Dr Francois’s wife and started working in the practice, as a receptionist, when Francois purchased the existing surgery back in February 2015. Carike has a positive, friendly nature and endeavours to provide a high level of customer service to every patient she deals with. She enjoys working in the dental field and feels great satisfaction when patients are looked after and leave the practice happy.
Carike is mum to a very busy little girl and a baby boy. In her spare time, Carike enjoys going to the movies and spending time with her friends and family.
KELLY BAILEY | CLINICAL COORDINATOR
Certificate 4 Dental Assisting
Kelly has 7 years of clinical dental experience and enjoys all aspects of dentistry she loves that no two days are the same. Kelly likes to make patients feel comfortable and listened to. To Kelly, there is nothing better than making a positive difference in a patient’s day!
Kelly is a loving mother of 3 children, who all keep her on her toes with all different sports and activities.
DREW SAMPSON | DENTAL ASSISTANT/RECEPTION
Drew has been in the dental industry for approximately 15 years, in various roles ranging from clinical to clerical. The most enjoyable part of her positions is building rapport with our loyal patients and have them know there will be a familiar face they know and trust working alongside the clinician.
Drew’s reassuring, bubbly presence in the room can ease a patient’s worry, and that is what it is all about for her.
Outside of dental, Drew lives on acreage with her partner, son and far too many horses that they enjoy training and competing in competitions. She is a seaside girl at heart and enjoys fishing, boating, beaching and camping with her family.
If you haven’t met Drew yet, she will be looking forward to contributing to your stress free dental visit in the future!
REBECCA DENNEHY | DENTAL ASSISTANT
Rebecca has over 2 years of dental experience and enjoys mingling with patients making them feel relaxed. Her favourite treatment to assist for are implants and restorations as she finds these most interesting and rewarding.
Rebecca would one day like to complete her certificate 3 in dental assisting.
Rebecca lives in the Mary valley with her four wonderful children and enjoys watching them motorbike ride and going on adventures to the beach with her friends and family.
