Dentist Checking Child Teeth — Dental Services in Gympie, QLD

A HEALTHY START

At McDonald Dental in Gympie, we care about children’s dental health. We believe introducing children to a regular dental routine and dentist visits from an early age can help them develop consistent routines of their own in the future. Preventative treatment and check-ups are important to avoid more serious dental problems later in life.

Child Comprehensive Examination of Teeth — Dental Services in Gympie, QLD

COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATIONS (CHECK-UPS)

From the moment their teeth start growing, your child can come in for dental check-ups. Early appointments are useful to ensure teeth are all growing in as they should. Regular appointments with a dental professional will help your child become more comfortable going to the dentist, creating a habit of regular visits that will last their life.

Often, signs of significant oral conditions can be observed and noticed with careful examination, as teeth start developing. It’s beneficial for children to have a dentist checking up on the progress of their growing teeth, including advice on wisdom teeth for older children.

General Dentistry of Child — Dental Services in Gympie, QLD

GENERAL DENTISTRY

With children’s dentistry, our goals are the same as with any adult patient. We want all children to leave our office with healthy teeth and better oral hygiene than before. From 6 months and up, we can help parents to teach their children about proper oral hygiene and its importance to overall health.

Our friendly team at McDonald Dental will help your child to:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene
  • Change bad dental habits & replace them with positive habits
  • Teach the right routines to prevent gum disease
  • Learn not to fear a visit to the dentist

It’s always preferable to spot early warning signs of dental conditions before they grow into something more serious. Treating as early as possible helps make a favourable outcome from a situation that would normally be difficult to handle as it progresses.

Dr. McDonald is the dentist to trust when it comes to your child's dental care.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SEE A DENTIST FOR MY CHILD?

Basic dental care and regular check-ups are generally affordable. If more complex treatment is needed, the cost will usually increase. We can help recommend the best option to fit your budgetary needs.

If your child is eligible for the CDBS, you will be able to benefit from participating in the program free of charge, up to $1000 of care over two years.

  • DO CHILDREN NEED TO SEE A DENTIST FOR THEIR MILK TEETH?

Yes. Even though milk teeth are not permanent, they can still impact the permanent development of a child’s adult teeth and gums. Children also form habits at an early age, so dental treatments on milk teeth can grow into healthy dental habits later.

  • WHEN SHOULD A CHILD START SEEING A DENTIST?

We recommend that children start visiting the dentist from 6 months onward, or when the first teeth start to come through.

  • IS MY CHILD ELIGIBLE FOR CDBS?

If you receive any government benefits, such as the Family Tax Benefit A, you may be eligible to sign your child up for the Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme. Call our offices today, and we can help you determine your child’s eligibility.

  • WHAT DOES CDBS INCLUDE?

CDBS covers most regular dental procedures, including check-ups, x-rays, cleaning, fillings, root canals, extractions and similar treatments. The scheme does not cover cosmetic procedures, treatment done during hospital stays or orthodontic care.
